Seriously, lately I have been assisting clients with extreme clutter & there are some common denominators, one being Aldi –overshop

  • Flat pack furniture
  • Bargains
  • Gorgeous books
  • Gifts for people
  • Clothes
  • Gadgets, tools

All soon get lost in the piles of items in homes – gifts get misplaced & never given to those intended
So much wasted money!!!!!
Science confirms that shopping makes us feel good – it activates key areas of the brain triggering dopamine which boosts our mood & makes us feel better – essentially giving us a high.  Dopamine plays a crucial role in our mental & physical health (& also plays a role in drug use & other addictive behaviors). Dopamine gives us a boost/high when we experience something new, exciting or challenging & for many shopping is the “high”.
Retailers understand this & we need to as well.
It is important to understand this as extreme clutter is dangerous in our homes, particularly as we age.
I am seeing too many trip hazards, too much dust (so thick it is the texture of carpet), too much ratsak to deal with bugs & vermin & too many unhealthy living conditions.
So be careful when shopping …
